Clwb Siarad 7/11/2019 – Learn Welsh with us each month

Today was our busiest meeting yet, with 28 in attendance.  The highlight was Pat’s home-made apple/mince pies!  We were delighted to welcome a new would-be member:  Michael, originally from Cardiff, who joined Eleri’s class.  It was a pleasure, too, to see Julia, Mary’s daughter, who brought some more of her mum’s books along for us.  We had another donation of books from our friend Betty, who has by now moved back home to Anglesey.  These will be out on loan to members each month.  We were glad to see Tricia again, back after a spell of illness, and we were very happy to congratulate Wyn and Mary on their diamond wedding this year.  With such large numbers attending we struggled a little with the acoustics of the room.  We have plans to rearrange the groups to try to address this issue.  The reading group started a new book at the Foundation level – quite a step up from the Mynediad series that we went through so quickly in 2018 – 2019.  We’ll need to take “Yn Ei Gwsg” (Bethan Gwanas) very steadily!  Our next social occasion is our Christmas lunch and film at The Continental Pub in South Meadow Lane on Sunday 1st December.  After that we meet as usual in the upstairs room of the Library on Thursday, 5th December at 10.00 am, with the Reading Group meeting in the afternoon.  WATCH THIS SPACE for a possible change of date to the January 2020 meeting.  Members have requested that we move it from the 2nd to the 9th.  I’m waiting to hear back from the booking staff at the Library – I’ll confirm as soon as I know.  CONFIRMATION:  January 2020 – we will meet on the 9th, second Thursday of the month.
