Rhuthun 12/9/18

What a day!  Excellent weather, lots of fun, lots of learning and making new friends.  We had an excellent lunch in Cafe R in the Craft Centre, served by Ioan, who was very patient with our hesitant Welsh.  Rachel Granger from Popeth Cymraeg joined us, as did Enfys’ parents.  After lunch we visited Ruthin Gaol and enjoyed a fantastic bi-lingual guided tour by John.  We bought bara brith and cakes in The Eagles’ Bakery, under the guidance of the owners, Sharon and Wyn.  Books and gifts were purchased in Shop Elfair, where we were warmly welcomed by Sioned and Gwilym.  We headed back to Cafe R for a drink before going home, and were delighted to meet local Welsh learners who had made a special effort to come to meet us.  Further highlights of the day included the amazing tapestry exhibition in the Craft Centre and a fascinating conversation with artist Cefyn Burgess, “the Patagonia specialist.”  The time flew by.  We will return!  We are already looking forward to following Duncan’s proposed Town Trail during a future visit.  We are grateful to Aled Hughes of Radio Cymru for mentioning us 3 times on his morning show.

Am ddiwrnod!  Tywydd braf, llawer o hwyl, dysgu a gwneud ffrindiau newydd.  Cawson ginio gwych yng Nhgaffi R yn y Ganolfan Grefft.  Roedd Ioan, y gweinydd ifanc, yn amyneddgar iawn efo’n Cymraeg betrusgar.  Daeth Rachel Granger o Popeth Cymraeg, a rhieni Enfys, i ymuno â ni.  Ar ôl cinio aethon ni i Garchar Rhuthun ac mi wnaethon ni fwynhau daith tywys ddwy-ieithog ffantastig gan John.  Prynon gacenni a bara brith ym Mhopty’r Eryr, dan ofal y perchenogion, Sharon a Wyn.  Prynwyd llyfrau ac anrhegion yn Siop Elfair, lle cawson groeso cynnes gan Sioned a Gwilym.  Nôl â ni i Gaffi R am baned cyn ddychwelyd adre.  Hyfryd iawn oedd cwrdd â dysgwyr lleol – gwnaethon nhw ymdrech arbennig i’n cyfarfod.  Uchafbwyntiau arall y diwrnod oedd arddangosfa celfyddyd tecstiau ryfeddol yn y Ganolfan Grefft a sgwrs hudol gyda arlunydd Cefyn Burgess, “arbenigwr ar Batagonia”.  Mi wnaeth yr amser hedfan heibio.  Mi wnawn ni ddychwelyd!  Dan ni eisoes yn edrych ymlaen at Daith Dre arfaethedig Duncan yn ystod ymweliad yn y dyfodol.  Dan ni’n ddiolchgar iawn i Aled Hughes am grybwyll amdanon dair gwaith ar ei sioe foreol.
