S4C has an excellent programme about Concerto Hedd Wyn, Catrin Finch’s new composition for the National Youth Orchestra of Wales, which they performed by invitation in Berlin for the centenary of the beginning of World War I.  Great pictures, some new info and a performace of  the whole concerto..  .

It was first broadcast last night (Tuesday 30 Dec) and is being repeated on Sunday 4 January at 15.20.  It is currently downloadable (usually 7 days max) from BBC iPlayer and is also available until the beginning of February on Clic  .

I was really blown away by it, but since I’m still convalescing I can’t be sure that means a lot. – though there are 120 young musicians and 5 harps!
